A video tutorial for my shadow box cards

Hello everyone,

Boy it's roasting here! England rarely ever gets much hotter than this, which is just as well as I don't think I could take any more. I'm melting.

It's not good card making weather as sweaty hands don't make cutting things out easy so I'm rather behind with this week's creations at the moment. I still hope to have a couple of new kits ready to go up in my store on Monday - fingers crossed - I shall have to see how it goes.

In the meantime, I thought I would share a video tutorial with you for my shadow box cards, although I have made several styles in a couple of different sizes, they are all still assembled in exactly the same way.

I don't have facilities for making videos myself, but Sammy from CMD has not only kindly made a video, she has also given me permission to share it directly with my customers, so thank you so much Sammy for your generosity, it is much appreciated.

I have had a couple of people ask me how these cards are assembled so I hope some of you may find it useful.

These cards are very quick and easy to make compared to decoupage layered cards but are still just as pretty and very effective. They all fold flat for posting too so are less bulky than a fully layered card.

If watching the video makes you feel like you want to have a go at making this style of card, you can find all the shadow box fold cards that I currently have available HERE.

I hope you have a lovely weekend.

Hello everyone,

I hope you all had a lovely weekend. They always seem to fly past so quickly don't they?

I spent most of mine working on another new card kit - surprise, surprise! I hope you also got a chance to do something that you enjoy.

As the year is ticking by faster and faster, I thought I'd make another Christmas kit for those of you who like to prepare well in advance. It's another of my 3D layer cards, which are quick and easy to make but look very effective. I hope you like it.

It comes with a matching envelope but it is also designed to fit a standard DL (8.5 x 4.3 inches) envelope if you only want to make the card. Step by step instructions are included on each of the sheets.

This kit contains EIGHT sheets for you to choose from:

  • a shaped card base sheet which includes the optional decoupage layers for the front of the card
  • a tree layers sheet with the optional 3D layers for the tree
  • a sheet with instructions for assembling the 3D tree

A cute Halloween witch

Hello everyone,

I had meant to post this yesterday but time just got away with me, sorry!

I did start out this week with the intention of making a card featuring a ghost as I had had a request from a customer for a colourful ghost card. The only problem with creativity is that it isn't always possible to force it. I never find it easy to design specific things. I often find that things just do not come together when I have to make something specific. I much prefer to have an open mind or maybe just a hint of a subject and then just see what happens.

As I was trying to focus on ghosts, I was browsing through all my Halloween graphics. None of the ghosts that I came across sparked my imagination but I did find this adorable little witch who seemed to desperately want to be made into a card! ;o) And the rest, as they say, is history.

So if you happen to be reading this Cathy, I'm sorry that she isn't a ghost, LOL. I promise that I will make you a ghost card very soon. In the meantime, I hope that this little minx will bewitch you instead. ;o)

An atmospheric scenic shadow box Christmas card

Hello everyone,

I hope that you all had a lovely weekend?

Saturday was a bit gloomy here but yesterday was a lovely hot, sunny day. Which is a bit ironic really as I spent my time playing with snow!

I've been working on my latest kit which I've just uploaded to my store. I fell in love with this lovely vintage image when I saw it, I just love the shades of blue in it and the crisp cold feel of it. It makes you want to get your wellies out and go for a trudge in the snow! I can almost hear that lovely scrunchy noise you get when you walk in new snow.

Snowy Church Bracket Edge Shadow Box Fold Card Kit

This atmospheric scenic shadow box Christmas card has a bright and chilly feel. Three different inserts are included, two with greetings and one which has been left blank for your own greeting or message.

The finished card folds flat for posting and comes with a matching envelope but it is also designed to fit a standard 5x7 inch envelope if you only want to make the card.. This kit contains NINE different sheets to choose from and step by step instructions are included on each of the sheets.

This kit contains:

  • a sheet with the shaped card front base panel
  • a sheet with the shaped shadow box panel
  • a shaped matching card insert sheet which has been left blank so that you can write your own greeting or message
  • a second insert sheet with a greeting (Merry Christmas)
  • a final insert sheet with a greeting (Happy Holidays)
  • a sheet with the shaped card base back panel
  • an envelope front sheet

A pretty pot of roses

Hello everyone,

I hope you are all well and enjoying life.

I couldn't resist making another floral card kit this week. It was nice to work with warm pinks after the chilly blues of my last kit - much more summery. ;o)

This one is for any rose fans you know and has a lovely soft shaby chic feel. It's also quite quick to make as all the bits are nice and easy to cut out. I hope you like it.

Pot of Pink Roses Shaped Easel Card Kit

This pretty shaped easel card will brighten anyone’s day and make them feel very special. Three different sentiment panels (plus a blank panel) are included for the easel stop making this multi-use card suitable for a range of occasions including: Birthdays; Mother’s Day; or telling someone you are thinking of them.

The card comes with it’s own envelope though it is also sized to fit a standard 6x6 inch envelope if you don’t want to make the matching envelope. Step by step instructions are included on each of the sheets.

This kit contains SIX sheets:

A cute wintry card kit

Hello everyone,

I hope that you all had a good weekend.

Well, where did June go? That's us virtually half way through the year already. Can time really keep going by quicker and quicker? Surely there must be a point when it can't possibly go by any quicker?? If it keeps speeding up at the rate it seems to be going by for me it won't be worth getting out of bed any more soon. ;o)

I did manage to squeeze in designing another card kit over the weekend along with everything else though I do have to admit that house cleaning took a knock to make room for it. Well something's got to give, LOL, and which would you rather do?

As you could say we are now in the run up to Christmas, I thought I'd better make another Christmas kit for those of you trying to get an early start on yours. I thought I'd make another of my older style cards that I've not made for quite a while so here is one of my diamond foldback cards featuring a cute snowman.

Cute Snowman Diamond Foldback Card Kit

This cute wintry foldback card has an unusual diamond shaped topper panel. You can leave it unlayered or you can add the optional decoupage layers that are included. You can also choose from four different sentiment panel layers or use the blank panel to devise your own sentiments.

Two versions of the card base are included in this pack (both with and without verse), giving you the option of making your foldback card without having to cut round the diamond panel, or making it in the usual way. If you want to use the ‘no cut’ version (the sheets with the half front panel) just cut out and layer your topper, using as many of the layers as you wish. Then stick the completed topper over the half front panel on the folded card base so that it lines up with the part panel. It will then over hang the side fold giving you the same look as a traditional foldback card but without the need for awkward cutting out. Making your foldback card in this way is not only much quicker and easier, it has the added advantage of giving you a neater finished card that is also stronger as it doesn't end up with a big hole on the inside fold of the card as happens with traditional foldback cards.

The card also comes with a matching envelope though it is also designed to fit a standard 5x7 inch envelope if you only want to make the card. Step by step instructions are included on each of the sheets.

This kit contains EIGHT sheets for you to choose from:

  • a card base sheet with half panel (‘no cut’ sheet) which has been left blank for your own message or greeting
  • a card base sheet with half panel (‘no cut’ sheet) with verse (Wishing you all the joys of the Season)
  • a card base sheet with full panel (traditional sheet) which has been left blank for your own message or greeting
  • a card base sheet with full panel (traditional sheet) with verse (Wishing you all the joys of the Season)
  • a layers sheet with the topper panel and optional decoupage layers for the card and a choice of four sentiment panels for the front of the card (Season’s Greetings, Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and Warm Winter Wishes).
  • an envelope front sheet
  • an envelope back sheet
  • a matching backing paper that you can print onto the reverse side of the card base sheet if you would like the back of the card to be patterned

All the sheets are 300 dpi high resolution sheets for quality printing.

My first new Christmas card kit for this year!

Hello everyone,

I am conscious that those of you who make up finished cards to sell like to make an early start on building up your Christmas stock ready for craft fairs later in the year. So I've bitten the bullet and been working on a new Christmas kit this week.

I can't believe that it's already time to start making Christmas kits again, this year seems to be flying past quicker than any year has before. That must be a sign of me getting older I suppose. :o(

I hope you like it.

Glad Tidings Shaped Fold Card Kit

Anyone, young or old, will love this friendly country Santa who comes bearing glad tidings. Two fully shaped inserts are included, with and without greeting, and a choice of two sentiment panel layers plus a blank panel.

It comes with a matching envelope though it is also designed to fit a standard C5 (9x6.5 inch) envelope if you only want to make the card. Step by step instructions are included on each of the sheets.
